On the 9th March, the cultural association Art of Slow Living will arrange happenings and meetings in some strategic places of the japanese capital city in order to open a confrontation about the use of time, the frenesy that grips a growing number of people and od te Slow Living, in this huge metropolis too. There will also be a lot of appointments in Milan, Rome, New York and in the more varied localities all over the world, all this organized thanks to the Web and everything rebounded on http://www.vivereconlentezza.it/. From time management to music as a soul place, passing through sport and photography and reading, the third World Day of Slow Living will deal with many ways of gaining free welfare starting from the way we face things. This town, which during the second post-war period has been the door for technology in the East, is a place that really turns one’s head. Bright towers and viaducts that work their way into each others, crossroads that takes half an hour to pass through and pagodas. Empire, finance, electronic and tradition mingling togethr with a very strong sense of duty besides a deep respect, attention and kindness, in March will speak the language of time, of its discover as a wealth with no rating. There will be a light breeze, an Italian low wind vehiculating the language of slowness. We won’t force Tokio citizens to stop and miss the rythm of their life, it’s just an invitation to look time from another perspective. The core of this three-day festival will be on montday 9th March. We’ll start with signal sticks, whistles and symbolical fines of Passovelox (speeding tickets) for those who walk too fast in Shinjuku, whiche maybe is the metro station more crowded in the world, a real labironth of moving stairacases and latches that everyday swallows thousands of peoples in order to take them to their work or amusement places as fast as possible without losing time. The main idea is to invite people to slow down, making them thinking about the Slowmandments with a joke. A veiled invitation to look around and discover how much beauty we are losing while running, actually struggling along towards our destinations. During the afternoon of the same day Passovelox (speeding tickets) will move to Shibuja, another popular metro station which is becoming a real town inside town. The Italian Institute for Culture and the Italian-Japanese Chamber of Commerce will be the core for many happenings, exhibitions and performances, workshops lectures. Management of time is fascinating in fact more and more people that feel crusched in the gears of economic growth at any cost. Finally Japaneses and Italians together like slow marathon runners on foot or riding a bike, will go from the Italian Institute for Culture with an unusual quiet race which will reach the Italian Quarter of Tokyo, homeland for design. The third World Day of Slow Living is organized with the cooperation and the sponsorship of the Muncipality of Milan that will host Expo 2015.
